In order to support area businesses, Cocke County government and industry have partnerships in place with area colleges to develop a trained and specialized workforce.

Its economic climate is supported by the Cocke County Partnership, consisting of the Economic Development Commission, the Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Council. Providing pre- and post-employment assistance, training and more, the partnership works with all local, regional, state, and federal agencies and organizations to provide the best business support services program possible. With a declining unemployment rate, Cocke County is poised for growth and business success.

Tennessee's innovative workforce partnerships and education reform are developing qualified candidates for skills in high demand. Tennessee is leading the way in education reform by increasing the number of Tennesseans with college degrees or certifications through the Tennessee Promise and TN Reconnect. As the only state in the country with these initiatives, Tennessee promises employers the support of highly skilled workers.

Schools & Education

Our trained workforce starts with our local schools and is supported by six post-secondary schools less than 60 miles away. With additional public-private training initiatives, area businesses have an educated workforce at their fingertips.

Postsecondary options include Carson-Newman University, Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Morristown, Tusculum College and Walters State Community College, as well as nearby Lincoln Memorial University and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
